  13.         If you are a new user, you don't have to concern yourself with this
  14. file  or   with  data   file  conversion.   You  should  begin  by  reading
  15. POSTCD82.DOC.   However, if  you are  using a version of PostCard  now that
  16. is below V7.0,  please read this file, as Version 8.2 has some  significant
  17. changes. Once configured properly, you will not have to re-learn how to use
  18. PostCard; Version  8.2's functions  have changed  little.  However, Version
  19. 8.2 uses  expanded data  fields and  requires  data  files  with  a  ".PCD"
  20. extension.

  22.      The file  DAT2PCD.DOC explains  the new data fields and how to convert
  23. .DAT files  to .PCD  files.  Conversion is easy.

  25.      The following  files in this archive are new as a result of changes to
  26. the field sizes:
  27.  
  28.      1.  POST.PRM
  29.      2.  Two new data files are included: COMM.PCD and VENDOR.PCD.
  30.      3.  DAT2PCD.EXE is included to convert former data files to the new
  31.          ".PCD" format.
  32.      4.  The utility programs POSTMK70.EXE and POSTU-70.EXE have been
  33.          rewritten to recognize the new field sizes.

  37.                        CONVERSION - IS IT WORTH IT?

  40.      If you  answer yes to some or all of the following questions, you will
  41. benefit from converting to Version 8.2:
  42.  
  43. 1. Did  you frequently  find yourself  abbreviating names  or other  fields
  44. because the field sizes were too small?
  45.  
  46. 2. Did  you wish  you could print a 4-line address label but were unable to
  47. because PostCard's format made no provision for a second address line?
  48.  
  49. 3. Did  you wish you could print a 3-line (or 4-line) address label without
  50. invoking a utility program?
  51.  
  52. 4. Did  you have a need to imbed a "9" or a comma "," in a telephone number
  53. to dial an outside line and pause for a dial tone?
  54.  
  55. 5. Did  you use  international telephone numbers and find them difficult to
  56. read because of PostCard's 14 character telephone number field?
  57.  
  58. 6. Did you find the 40 character note line too confining and wish you could
  59. note more information about a particular record.
  60.  
  61. 7. Do  you use  other programs  that use data files with a ".DAT" extension
  62. and have problems keeping those files separated from PostCard data files?
  63.  
  64. 8. Did you wish you could invoke frequently used programs without having to
  65. shell out to the operating system and type their names each time you needed
  66. them?

  69.      If things like this cramped your style, you should definitely consider
  70. converting. In   fact, Version  8.2 addresses  most of  the complaints  its
  71. author has  received in  the last  year about  the  program.  In  addition,
  72. Version 8.2 will continue to be improved  and previous versions will remain
  73. static.

  75.         The registration fee for PostCard is $20.00.   If you have not reg-
  76. istered PostCard, please recognize PostCard is shareware,  not freeware. If
  77. you use PostCard,  why not cast a  vote for reasonably  priced software and
